Infertility Treatment and IVF
Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months of regular, unprotected intercourse. Modern medicine offers a tiered approach to help couples.
Diagnostic Phase
Both partners are evaluated. For the woman, this includes ovarian reserve testing (AMH blood test) and a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to check if the fallopian tubes are open. For the man, a semen analysis is performed.
Treatment Options
Ovulation Induction: Using oral medications (Letrozole or Clomiphene) to ensure an egg is released.
IUI (Intrauterine Insemination): Prepared sperm is injected into the uterus at the exact time of ovulation.
IVF (In Vitro Fertilization): A multi-step process involving hormone injections to grow multiple eggs, “egg retrieval” surgery, fertilization in a lab, and “embryo transfer” back to the womb.
